  • Noisey when in low low

Hi all, live in Cairns. I have a 3.4 auto prado. Been a rocky relationship the last few months. This morning in work, I climb a hill no problem to it. I put the vehicle in low low moved forward. All good. As I increase revs in hear a low whiring, like an electrical motor. Put it back to hi low and hi I hear nothing. Then back to low low I can hear it again. There was no bang or rack or anything like that. Its been a while aince off road as its my daily car. It worked but the noise, would anyone have any clues as to what it is? Thanks for the help.

Some cars whine while in low range... I installed a new transfer box on my previous 95 which was very noisy in LL. My current 90, although its a different Tcase, has a slight whining, as does the 2007 4runner..

It might just be that as I don't have any problems and climbed a 60 degree without problems.

it is the normal sound of the fluid being pumped through the trans. Don't worry about it until it stops making that noise
