How to remove transfer case lever???

Re manual gearbox transfer case stubby gearstick removal.

I've run into a problem whilst trying to get the lever out whilst the box is still in the car.
There is 4 bolts that hold it down onto the top of the case but there is also a cable that connects from the drivers side of the lever down to the case side. Presumably its the hi/lo switch, its about 150mm long.
Stuffed if I can see how to unplug said cable so I can lift off the lever. Has anyone had this apart?

Haynes manual is no use on this at all.

Doh!
cancell that. The cable is actually a little breather hose. So short that I couldn't see either end properly.
