Clutch life span on a v6 petrol

Hi guys just wondering a estimate on clutch life on a rv6 prado. I realize it all depends on how you drive it. I have recently brought the car . I am asking as when changing from first to second and 2nd to 3rd With out really reving it out its hard not to drop the clutch or have that feeling of dropping the clutch as the pedal is pretty much fully released before it really grabs

We had to change ours at 162,000 km. However, I consider that it was my fault that it burnt out then as when it was about 20,000 km I tried to back my boat up without taking the brakes off the trailer and I burnt it out very badly. I am amazed that it lasted as long as it did. When it went, it became apparent when towing the boat up steep hills and after changing a gear the engine revved high till the throttle was eased off.

HI

Provided the adjustments are correct then you are getting close to the end of clutch life.

But it may go for years yet

Mine has got 208,000kms on it with some failry severe towing and off road duties. It still feels the same as it did when I 1st got the truck.

230,000klms on mine - clutch just starting to slip under load now.

1st synchro starting to stick - tho I wonder if it is a wear part in the gear lever mechanism that might have worn causing part of the problem. (have read a few forums where a plastic part in the gear lever mechanism causes problems - easily replaced)

I'm leaning towards a heavy duty clutch - explained to me today the HD versions (not the extreme racing versions) have a similar or lighter clutch action due to stronger springs and changed pivot point resulting in longer clutch travel rather than heavier clutch force.

compared quotes today (I am in Brisbane).

Exedy HD clutch $430 (northern brakes - Kensington Vic) - delivery to Brisbane?
Exedy HD clutch $740 - gabba gearboxes

BHSS HD clutch $600
Repco - std duty $450
auto one ipswich $547 - clutch industries HD?
remove - reinstall gbox $450 inct gst to $550 ex gst
strip & rebuild gbox - approx $1000-1200 inct gst (new bearings/seals)
repco estimated bearing & seals approx $500
gbox parts - unknown until stripped down
toyota 1st synchro = $82

not a lot of difference between the guys I spoke with, prefer to deal with someone who does gbox rebuilds as all work done in the one shop.

Comments? good/bad experiences to exchange?
