Remote Locking For 97 GXL

I have seen the kits on evilbay for remote locking but I really don't like the look of the dodgy remotes. Is the wiring already there for the factory system? I have done a bit of research and some say that there is a plug behind the LHF kick panel for it. I am yet to check my own car as it is 120km away! The joys of working at a remote mine. If the plug is there, I assume you could buy a module / receiver from Toyota, plug it in and get a couple of factory remotes to make it work.
Anyone tried this or looked into it?

I rang up an alarm fitting company and got them to come to my place and install a good alarm/remote locking system. Off memory cost no more than $250 and works a treat, decent quality remote too. Can try and dig up the details if you want? I think they've got guys in most states

I rang up Toyota last October regarding a keyless entry module for my '97 gxl. They said the part has to be shipped from Melbourne. I have still not received a response from them.

keyless entry is cool. but it is quite boring with only that function.

my car alarm system has the function that when it disarm the system, it will provide one positive line with maximum 15A flow within 1 minute. So i connect this line to my whole parker and interior LED + exterior LED (which includes Mirror LED, eagle eyes LED, evil eyes LED).
This setting seems work really well in the night, it will help my missus can see clearly what is around and inside the car when she gets in.
