  • trip meter Question

Some help please. I have a 90 series Prado and the trip meter resets after each time i turn the car off. I use to have a 98 model rav 4 with a similar dash and the trip meter would keep counting each time i drove the car until i manually reset the trip meter myself. Dose anyone know if there is a small battery in behind the dash, or if the trip meter should be directly wired to the main battery under the bonnet. If so how i can fix this. ( i have a Max Ellery repair manual, it doesn't show this).
The speedo counter still clicks over correctly.
2000 Prado GXL VZJ95R, Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres, and not much else so far.
To do list ; change belts including timing, electric aerial, rust proofing, rubbers under front end, bull bar , and more....

        Re: trip meter Question

2000 onwards 90's used digital trip meter's instead of the old mechanical ones so it would need a constant power supply to the CMOS.

Start simple. Are any fuses blown?
