  • roof mounted lights

Hi all, have done a search and cant find any info. What I am wanting to know is where people who have lights on their roof racks run their wires up to the roof.
I was thinking of running them up through the snorkle then in the gutter channel and up to the roof rack.

Any ideas or advise would be great

You run the wires up the inside of the "B" Pillar and come out at the top of the plastic trim, then go through the corner of the front or back doors, you can even put in a connector (just after the plastic trim on the "B" Pillar for easy removal of the rack for any reason). Then run the wires up one of the legs of the rack and then to the lights.

Although I haven't actually wired mine up yet I've test run a cable through the engine bay and up through the hole where the windscreen wiper is and then hugging up against the snorkel and through the gutter.
Might sound dodgy running the cable so close to the moving parts of the windscreen wiper but I tested mine several times with the wipers on and could see no possible way the wire could get damaged (as long as it's cable tied out of the way)

hi coatesy, the snorkel is a great place to run the wiring, its protected very neat and makes no change to the intake.ive put mine there with an anderson plug at the rear of snorkel so i can remove the rack if needed.remember to use a relay if its a lightbar or heavy power draw, with a fuse,i also ran it in braided conduit and coated the part that was going inside snorkel with sensor safe silacone, that stops it from rattling around in the airflow while your engine runs.you can enter snorkel at the airbox and run wires through a rubber grommit then seal with silicone for good measure.all neat and out of view, the shorter the route the less power drain you get.good luck.

For my solar panel on the roof rack, I just ran the wiring tucked into the windscreen edge moulding. A bit of silicon to hold it there and then along the gutter to the roof rack. Looks neat.
