  • Help needed rear blinker problem

    Hi,
Ive tried replacing the bulb for the rear blinker but its still not working. Any ideas what the problem could be? Just a loose wire or have I gotten water on something I shouldn't have? :-(
    Thanks!

Hi Murph. Take out the bulb, with indicator switched on use either a multimeter on "volts DC 0 - 20 volt range" or a probelamp to prod the socket contact and check whether or not you have voltage. If you have voltage, give the socket a good squirt of CRC or similar and ensure the spring loaded socket base is free. Fit new bulb and Ta Daaa. If you have no voltage - start digging further brother. If you are having to ask the above - you probably will need to go to an auto electrician. Good luck Boss.

Are your rear lights in the bumper or the sides of the rear door?
The bumper mounted ones corrode around the bulb holders and give a bad earth which causes lots of other funny issues.
Check the grounding from the bulb holder to the chassis.
Make sure the spring loaded tabs under the bulb are OK and not corroded , if they are corroded clean it out with steel wool or similar, and put some CRC6.66 electrical lube in there.
