  • Prado 1997 Electrical Problems

    Hello i am a newbie on this site,and have a RHS 1997 Prado TX,My spedometer has stopped working,my compass is frozen,since a week ago the driver door central locking door open switch opens the doors but it does not lock the doors,the key operation opens and locks the doors and temperature reads -E,has anyone experienced this problem.Please help
    Does any one have a wiring diagram for this vehicle ?

    Have you checked the gauge fuse?

      Thanks for the post,
      I have checked the guage fuse and it is ok,the green display light,RPM,inclinometer\tilt are ok
      Is it posssible to get an actual wiring for a 1kz95TX diesel engine ?

        mmm, think you have a few things going on here...are you sure they are connected?

        The speedo and the compass freeze sound like a speed sensor fault to me...have a look on the rhs (I think!) of the trans case...it's a 3 wired plastic connector going in to the side of the case.

        If you've got the electonic temp display (next to the compass/incl etc) then thse sensor is located at the front of the vehicle behind the bumper. It's a little black stick thing. Check the wiring here.
        Prado 95, not quite original!

          Great i have found the little black sensor behind the grill,one wire seams to run to the chasis and the other has about 5volts to ground when disconnected from the sensor.where would the wires run to ?
