  • Connecting DP34 chip to 90 series Prado injection Pump

    Gentlemen.
I have followed this thread with interest since before I purchased my used DP34 chip on Ebay. The unit I bought was removed from a Toyota Surf, prior to resale. It was installed in the surf in 2008. The reason I bought the chip is because it is set up for the 1KZ-TE engine, the same engine as in my 2002 90 series Prado.

However the installation instruction sheet that was included in the kit was for the '95 Surf and it is quite different from my Prado. The surf has a three plug connection to the ECU whereas my Prado has a four plug connection. Also the connection to the signal wire at the injection pump looks, from a very vague photo, to be quite different from the Prado injection pump.

I have sat down with the installation card and my workshop manual and worked out a transposition from the three plug Surf ECU to the Prado unit, all good and tested for OK. However the connection to the injection pump signal wire has me a bit baffled. In the diagram (photo) it shows the connection to a red wire, adjacent to a blue wire just short of a plastic plug. I have located a red wire, adjacent to a blue wire into a plug into my Prado injection pump, but I'm uncertain as to whether it is the correct red wire. Can someone please tell me if I'm on the right track here. If this assumption is correct, I'm very close to enjoying the benefits of my new (second hand) DP34 chip.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Further to the above. I have set up the chip in my 90 series Prado, thanks to a few people for their valuable assistance. Now I have a chance to pay it forward. If anyone is attempting to set up a DP34 chip in their Toyota with 1KZ-TE engine, I know a little bit more now than I did when I wrote the previous message and should be able to help you.

I decided to invest the extra $170 to send my chip back to DP Chip for testing and re-calibration to suit my 90 series with the 3" exhaust. They will also register the chip in my name and carry the warranty over to me.

    Cheers
    Bruce.
