  • HID headlamp kits for 95 series

    Hi all,
Not sure if this has been discussed before but am looking for a HID hi/lo headlamp conversion for a 95 series Prado. I've had a good look on the site but I found these kits:

    H4 hid kit

anybody tried the kits from aliexpress at all? I heard that all these HID kits come out of China any way..!

as far as i know they are illegal but in saying that i brought a H4 kit but didn't fit it due to the fact it gets all its control from one head light so if there is a problem with that circuit you loose all your lights and the wiring/connections all seemed a little cheap/dodgy.

Yes, very illegal, due to the fact that you have only a single surround headlight, you need to get the projector/halogen style twin light set up to do it legally, you see them on ebay every now and then, have a look through the ebay finds section on this site and you should find them there.
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Are you sure those ebay boys aren't buying in bulk from these Chinese sites and then flogging them at double the price on fleebay?

No they are not the ones i'm talking about, they replace your whole headlight assembly with a tatally new one, and instead of having just the one bulb in it, they have a seperate high beam light inside it 9so there are 2 reflectors in the one light), the high beam side will allow you to change the bulb to HID legally.

I hear you. Yep, you are quite right, illegal here in NZ also on the road. I was looking at just off road use only really BUT I think I'm going to stick with some "normal" H4's afterall. Just easier all round.

Croozza - are the IPF fattys H4 still the preferred/best please? Thanks

IPF are an ok light, but there are plenty of other brands that are better, Philips 100+, or the Narva 90+ are just 2 that come to mind
