  • Remote Central Locking - Not quite right

    Hey all

Chasing some quick advice for my '02 90 Series Prado

I am having trouble with the remote central locking - The remote button is working reliably every time. If I hold the button down or try a few times the car will respond and will lock/unlock.

Would this be a problem with the central locking aerial in the Prado (any specific details about this would be awesome) or the battery is going flat?

How can I replace the battery in the remote - Do I just pry it apart and put a new battery into it or ?

    What battery does it take?

    Any info appreciated!

Sounds like the battery is going flat. No idea what your key looks like so the 95 owners will know. Usually there is a tiny screw.

      Hi Moyley,

I have a 2002 95series GXL and have changed the battery in the remote.

To open just prise the unit apart, the battery is a CR2032 button battery readily available

Thanks for that amts and turps123 - Greatly appreciated!

I have changed the battery but still not having much luck?
Its quite strange if I leave the Prado for a few days (Cheap daily driver) and come back I need to hold the button down on the remote before anything happens - Then it works as it should.
Like the Prado is 'asleep' - Wake it up and then it responds like it should.
Might do some more investigating this weekend.
