Electrical fault blows my stop lights... Any ideas?

Hello, I have a 2000 Prado TD and have a problem with the stop lights, when I apply the brakes it blows the fuse, I have checked the globes, trailer plug, all the connections at the rear of the car, when I check the wires coming from the front of the car it appears to have a very low resistance, I have the plug disconnected from the stop light switch, I have tried it with all the plugs at the rear of the car disconnected with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Regards Graeme.
