  • Cargo area lamp

    Hey guys,

I recently installed a rear cargo lamp for the interior of the shorty, since it didnt have one like the VZJ95 did. I bought a Hella lamp that fit wonderfully, but I have a problem!
The wiring was spliced from the main lamp (the one between the two front seats) both positive and negative. But I cant get the lamp to turn on independently (on "ON"), it only turns on when the doors are on (on "DOOR").

Any ideas how to wire the lamp up so it turns on both on "Door" and "On". How is the original cargo lamp wired? How does the main lamp turn on both ways using the same wiring??

    Help?

Sounds like you need to run more wires just for power, as I think you have wired up only to the door trigger.

      Im a freaking dumbass.

I needed to step back just to see it.

I was connecting positive to the switch side, as Im used to. But, I needed to use the negative side on the switch. That way, I wire a ground for the "On" function and the main ground for the "Door" function. I was doing it the other way around.

I feel stupid. Anyway, its solved.

      Thanks for your reply crooza!
