I need to remove the drivers door trim & inpect inside the door as I have a rattle. I have removed the clips on the upper left & the screw in behind the door lever , plus the screw behind the little square cover...
Where do I push or pull the trim from here? ops:

    Thanks

OK so its taken a few extra days to get to this little job....

The reason I wanted to get the trim off was to repair a clunking something in the door that rattles everytime the door moves or you go over any sort of pothole. It will also be handy if entry is required for any electical reason such as the speakers or the window drive motors or switches.

So in light of that I took a few photos so that we all can learn how the trim can be removed.

Firstly, remove the little cover & the screw behind it.

then remove the two clips here...

Next, the screw behind the inside door handle. This will allow the handle to come free & thus be able to be rotated back thru the hole in the trim.

Levering up the switch panel allows access to yet another hidden screw.

Unplugged the switch module to allow the door trim to come off completely.

The door trim can now be pulled from the lower edges which disconnects the clips now holding it on.

You will need to lift the trim over the door lock button.

This section of trim will be the last corner to come off, you will need to lift the trim near the door lock to get this to slide out. Reassembly also requires that this is done first also.

Once inside, you will see a plastic sheet covering most of the insides. It is held on by black silastic & can be peeled off & restuck latter on.

In my case my noise was coming from the lower window guide. It normally is spot welded on in two spots. Both had broken meaning that it was just flopping around. Because of the difficult location it was difficult to work out a solution, but at the moment I have tried some glue & I will see how it goes. The location is not under any structural stress so it may suffice till the next 4WD trip anyway!

      Cheers

Thanks for the info and pics Richard. I've got the Gregory's but there's nothing quite like someone doing it so we don't miss one of those hidden screws.

Great instructions, I was looking for some courage to take off the panels and replace the speakers with decent aftermarket parts, you have given me the knowhow, I am more confident now. Does anyone know what the OEM speaker size is?

          Cheers.

The speakers are 6,5 inch. I changed the original speakers for aftermarket ones with separate tweeters. Made a huge improvement. The original baffles are not that good so I built new ones in 22 mm mdf-board. And while you have the door trim of and speakers out, install some Dynamat or similar in the doors.
