  • Cabling from 2nd battery to rear of prado

Putting a second battery in where the battery goes in the v6s. (I have a TD)
Looking at the engine bay I cannot see any logical route to run the cable to the rear compartment through the firewall via existing holes, or do I run it along the chassis and then up into the rear compartment through a grommet?
    All feedback appreciated

I ran it inside the chassis rail and up into the rear of the car through a grommet.

On the passenger side is a very large body grommet with the main harness running through. Give it a slice with a blade and feed your cable in. It will come out behind the glove box and to the left of the ECU. I often find it just easier to undo the ECU screws to make a little more room.

From there under the side trim near the doors and up the back side panel. Drill a hole where ever you like or in the clip on panel for feeding out. Wires can be tucked up in there behind the panel if not in use (and adequately insulated)

See posts 278 and 285 of my rig build for some pics and the panel I'm talking about

I ran mine down to the chassis and then along the the left chassis rail (not actually in the chassis rail) right to the back where there is a grommet/hole under the rear quarter panel. I thought about running it in the rail, but the 40mm^2 cable is a bit bulky so in the end I used rivnuts and p-clips to attach it to the side of the chassis rail. I did use cable sheath to give it a bit more protection, and it many km of dirt roads it hasn't gotten any stone damage at all.
