Does anyone know how to change to globes for the interior map lights at the front on the GXL. Does the complete light fitting come off or the clear lens in the middle, both globes have blown and I need to replace them.

Re: Changing Interior Globes
This is off the Yahoo 90 series forum
I have not long ago done this and found that brute force was the only
way to go. It is really sticky. I pulled the grey surround from the back
as your looking at it, i.e. closes to the window. Then it is just a
matter of replacing the faulty bulb I went to Autopro only to find out
that you can only buy them in packs of 2 I think they were under 5
bucks. I replaced both at the same time even though the other wasn't
blown so that I didn't have to go through taking the cover off so often.

Re: Changing Interior Globes
I don't believe it is necessary to remove the fitting.
I replaced mine with LED's some time ago.......I think you will find the following link helpful (PS: the LED's are a huge improvemnt as well);

The map lights are a similar system and are released the same way.Rob

You've probably figured out by now how to get that light cover off. I eventually discovered that a slim spatula (Paint Scraper) gently inserted between the cover and the roof lining will do the trick, although quite a lot of force is required.
My difficulty is, where do you buy the replacement globes? The originals are 12 volt 10 watt, but all I can find in Motor pro, Auto pro, Super Cheap, K Mart, Local servo and all the other auto suppliers are 12 volt 6 watt. The lower wattage gives significantly less light, as you would expect. Motor Pro even told me "you can't buy them".Well I had the old one in my hand with 12 volt 10 watt stamped on it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
