  • Keyfob - Alarm or not?

OK, bit of a puzzle here. I'm in the UK and the car is a JAP import.

I have the key fob below (Has Toyota logo on the back). It used to unlock the car no problem. I wanted to add a new fob, and have been told I most likely have the TVSS alarm... except I can't find the module anywhere (my dash is in bits!). Were there any variations of the Landcruiser Prado (KZJ95) that didn't have the TVSS alarm, but instead just had a remote module somewhere?

That does look like a TVSS key head. You'll normally find the module under tye drivers seat. Standard keyless module is in left hand kick panel.

    Whats wrong with yours?

The current one works, but is hit and miss.. wanted to get a shiny one that will work better

You're right! There is a small box with a blue connector. Doesn't have TVSS written on it or anything though.

Is there a way to reprogram a new key now I have found the unit? I know there is a procedure with the TVSS alarm found behind the radio, but not sure if this an early version?

Think you'll find your issue is either the battery in the remote or dirty contacts on the buttons.
