Blinkers left side not working after working intermittently

My Prado had been standing for 4 weeks. Started driving again, blinker on right side worked only intermittently , then okay after a day. Then same problem started on left side blinkers, worked every now and then. Now not at all. Mechanic has checked bulbs, fuses. Still getting flasher sound, but real fast .
Friend reckons earth problem, but where to start? TIA

Indicator/Blinker stalk has issues. Probably dirty contacts that can be cleaned with a quick spray of contact cleaner.
