  • remote door opener

have to have the button right up to the windscreen for it to operate the door locks. Bought a new button programmed ok but same as the old one. Any further back than about 300 mm from the dash won't work. Has anyone had this issue and if so what was the fix. I'm considering lengthening the aerial to the control unit but I cannot find the frequency of the unit and therefore don't know the wave length and the length to extend the aerial wire. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Points most likely to an issue with the receiver in the car. (As you have thought).

Since you have got a new remote and the same thing is happening with that, and the range is reduced rather then not working completely indicates RFI (interference) coming from something and knocking the signal.

Got any new electrical devices, new LED/Fluro lights, alarm system, cordless phone, new beer fridge in the shed etc? Try shutting down these sorts of things to rule them out, also try running an extension cord and powering the door opener off another powerpoint in a different room and see.

I think you'll find he is talking about the remote keys for the car. Not a garage door opener.
