accessorys staying on

Hi,

When my key is out of the ignition my accessories are still live. I need to manually turn off the radio etc. My mechanic looked at the ignition switches on back of the barrel but it still stays on even when the 2 plugs are disconnected.
Any ideas anyone to rectifying this before I go see an auto sparky $$$.
Is there a hidden relay stuck on for accessories somewhere?

The prado models from Mongolia and Kazakhastan did this. Its perfectly normal.

I dunno if you have rectified this issue but being trained in electronics (including auto electrics) possibly one of your accessories that have a battery installed ie: GPS is holding up some of the electronics by backfeeding thru the electrical system. I had this recently on a 79 series landcruiser fire truck where the battery off the portable hand held radio was feeding back into the system keeping the engine running for up to a minute after the key was removed. try unplugging equipment one by one and see what happens

GPS is holding up some of the electronics by backfeeding thru the electrical system. I had this recently on a 79 series landcruiser fire truck where the battery off the portable hand held radio was feeding back into the system keeping the engine running for up to a minute after the key was removed.

:shock: wtf??... something not right there....

I'm thinking the accessories relay stuck/fused contacts or a dodgy 3rd party accessories/wiring install that is holding 12v to the coil of the accessories relay (thus bypassing the ignition accessories switch)

I hear you, a simple addition of a 30c diode fixed the problem.
