Hi, Just wondering if anyone has replaced starter motor. I have disconnected the bolts and wires but cannot remove it from the vehicle. Is there a special way to get it out without removing the manifold etc. Also i cannot budge the manifold bolts. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: HELP Removing starter motor
I have never had a Prado one out but have you checked if there is a support bracket that is at the other end to the mounting bolts? Maybe thats why it wont move?06 GXL TD 5 spd man, Dual Batteries, Safari knock off Snorkel, Sov. Bar, BFG ATs, GME TX3420, Safari Dtronic, ARB Compressor.

Re: HELP Removing starter motor
I had my starter motor reconditioned about 3 weeks ago and the mechanic said it was like giving birth
She's a damn tight fit :!:
The initial advise from another mechanic was to take it out through the wheel arch but there was too much to remove so my mechanic ended up taking it out through the bottom... I think they had to remove a few lines etc... and they all commented that it was a painful, painful job.
Best of luck
Cheers, Leon

Re: HELP Removing starter motor
Thanks snaga, I was going to take the manifold off but had a look underneath and decided to take the two power steering lines off the steering rack only took about 5 mins and with a bit of maneuvering it came out.Fiddly job but i would of saved a few dollars. Thanks for the advice
