  • computer waterproofing

    G'day all,
does anyone know where to find the computer I was told by an auto elec that it would be a good idea to put the computer in a plastic bag to protect it but problem number one I have no idea where it is.

    Cheers

    Re: computer waterproofing

hi,the computer is above the glovebox,if you plan to get it wet then your going to be doing some serious offroading.i think putting the ecu in a plastjc bag may create problems,humidity/mositure!cheers rossy.

Well if its located above the glovebox I am thinking, if you get the computer wet you will need a snorkel. Not just for the car but one for you as well.

Its depends on your computer, you could probably get away with a basic plastic box. Seal the bag to stop water ingress. Throw in some gell sachets to suck out the last of the water from the air. How permanent do you want this? A wooden box could be nocked up easily, sealed and painted to protect it. I assume to keep the interior electronics at a working temp and dry as a bone without the near impossible task to keep the insides 100% dry in the real world. I would like to see the results for this one.
