  • Dashboard accessory meter

Guys, I have a UK spec 90 swb. The model here is the GX. On the VX you got a dashboard mounted pod with extra meters in. Inclinometer etc. I have managed to get a set of these from a scrapper and thought that, in the usual Toyota style, the wiring loom would be there. I have the dash out and don't seem to be able to find any plug socket. It came with a lead about 300mm long to go through the top of the dash. I was wondering if this is a more common fitment in Australia and if you had and knowledge of where it connects up. I imagine that not everything like external temp sensors might be there, but power, speedo connection etc might be. There does seem to be quite a few wires in the plug which I am surprised at seeing as how most of the clever bits seem to be inside the housing. I wondered if there might be an additional lead to connect the flying lead to a point somewhere else behind the dash.

    Thanks

Have you tried to see if you can find it in the www.toydiy web site? How many connections does it have? You may not have the harness but you may be able to get some of it working?

Yes, I have thanks for the response. It only shows the flying lead that came with it. It maybe that it plugs into the ECU. I am going to contact the scrapper again and ask if they can trace the rest of the harness.

Have a look through this section of IH8MUD as there are a few threads on the center pod you are talking of.
Maybe one has the answer (I think it does but didn't look for it)

Thanks Dhula, genius. It does go to the ECU and by all accounts it should work bar the Temp sensor, which can be obtained.

          Excellent stuff.
