  • Cluster not working

    Hi all

My wife came home the other night and reported that the speedo had stopped working. On further investigation, I have found the following not working: Speedo, tacho, dash lights, power windows, reversing lights, heater fan, temperature gauge. Central locking works. Radio works Head and tail lights work, and indicators work. Cam belt and water pump were replaced about 3 weeks ago, but the new fault started on Friday. I have checked all the fuses and they look ok. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks
    Al

Crisis averted. Turns out the 10amp fuse for the cluster is also the fuse for the interlock relay that switches various things that are actually on separate fuses, so although their actual fuses were ok, without the relay they were not switching on. I'd eyeballed the fuse and thought it looked ok, but went back and checked with a multimeter. Note to self, put glasses on before doing a visual check of a fuse. The eyes aren't what they used to be.

Soo... This morning, switches on the demister and the fuse blew. Could it be the relay?

Put an Ammeter on the demister and see what its pulling. Likely you have found the issue already

Fuse only blows if blower turned on. I have pulled the wires to the blower and the fuse still blows if i press the switch. I'm guessing relay. Where do i find the relay for the blower?

Removed what I thought was the relevant relay. Drove to town and back last night (about 15 minutes each way) and everything was working. Started it this morning, switched everything on and the fuse blew. Someone has suggested it could be a bad battery. Its a dual battery setup, so I'll go and get them checked

Rear demister or the heater fan?

Bit the bullet and took it in to an Auto Electrician. Turned out to be a problem with the AC clutch. I never would have found it, so $100 well spent,
