  • door locking button

just brought a 2002 prado rv6 but the lock unlock button isnt working . I take it this is an electrical switch ? , Central locking works with the key. Should i be looking at a fuse for the switch . Any suggestions would be much appreciated

      Re: door locking button

I'd be inclined to say it's the switch itself. A short, broken wire, loose connection? If the Central Locking is working with the key then (and don't quote me as I certainly don't proclaim to be an auto electrician to any degree) that would indicate that the fuse and switching/relay is working fine whereas your problem seems to be the switch itself. I'd say pop the switch and take a look and perhaps replace it. Plenty of non-genuine switch options out there.

I was actually looking at replacing my central locking switch with one of these 50 Series switches RS53PM2 http://www.pedal-2d-metal.com/

Anyway, let us know how you get on with the fault finding.

The dash? mine is on the drivers door... Anyways, if that's what you meant, it could be the wiring, mine only works if the door is closed or very slightly ajar (yet another thing to fix when I get around to it)

If you have power windows its on the drivers arm rest with the window buttons.
but for the rest of us suckers who don't have power window its on the dash.
            sounds like the switch.
