  • What does this do?

I have only had my Prado for about a month or so and noticed this switch, the previous owner didn't know what it did either.

This is the picture from behind:

    So it is connected.
The wires run along the back of the engine bay and the yellow wire is connected to the headlight, the brown wire goes to a little black box which then connects to the battery:

I checked today if the switch did anything and it appears that it doesnt do anything.
    Any ideas?

Trigger for aux spot lights. They must have been on there once and been removed before sale.

Get someone to put their finger on the little black box (relay) to feel it click while someone else flashes high beams.

Looks like its a switch for your spotlights? Turn your headlights on and activate high beam, then turn the switch on and your spotlights should come on. Dip your lights to low beam and the spotlights should go off as well. This is a legal requirement for fitting spotlights. If this doesnt work then its probably incorrectly wired or you have a fuse/globes out.
There is a thread on here somewhere with wiring diagrams for spotlights.

I have the same relay in the same spot on my 90. But I have a small hole where a switch, identical to your switch, once was. An the cabling is still run from the relay and sitting behind the grill. Keep meaning to rip it out but haven't gotten around to it. I won't be using the same cable when I finally get my spotties.

Good to see another Canberran on here too ... North Side or South Side?

I actually saw a green "Getaway" 90 Series Prado in a carpark off Cohen St last week.
