Hey mate, just replied to your other post regarding this which makes that one irrelevant but for what it’s worth, you could’ve actually intercepted the drivers door actuator wiring in the kick panel and used the Jaycar module to drive that independently without the need to add additional relays. But you got it sorted so it’s all good!Originally posted by jasnmel252 View PostSooooo after a lot of back and forward reading/looking between the Prado and NUMEROUS forum reads, I have managed to work out how to install my Jaycar bought keyless entry unit (LR8839) into my 90 Series Prado.
In short, the Jaycar unit can only output a Positive Pulse to the door locks.
However, the Prado requires a Negative Pulse to operate the door actuators (locks).
So in order to get the system to work, you need to purchase two relays (also bought from Jaycar - SY-4045).
Seeing as though it was a pain in the backside for me to work all this out i have made up a specific wiring diagram for all those out there who may need a little help installing a Positive Pulse keyless entry system into their Prado.
This will work with any system that outputs a positive pulse, but keep in mind the wire colours may be different.
Basically, what the relays are doing is converting the positive pulse to negative by grounding the door lock/unlock wire.
If i have helped at least one person out there, then it was worth making the diagram, because there is nothing worse than frustration over such a simple install.

your switch on the dash, was it a "negative" switch. and did you have to wire in extra ground wires to change the behaviour of the remote module. I have connected the lock, unlock wires to the lock/unlock on the switch (which both have constant power), but am stuffed from there. unfortunately I only got a basic wire diagram with the unit (from jaycar), but nothing about how to wire up if system is negatively switched. might have to take it back and get something different.

I googled the installation for that Mongoose part number and found this on another forum.
"Wiring is easy red and purple wires go to 12 volts + and the black, white and brown go to earth, the blue and green wires go to the motor and if it has a flashing light or immobilizer function and the car unlocks when you want it to lock just swap the blue and green wires."
Looks like you need to connect the purple, white and brown wires as indicated.

Re: remote central locking
I just bought a Mongoose Keyless Entry kit Part # MCL1000 [url] http://www.mongoose.com.au/accessories/ ... l1000.aspx [url]and hooked it up but it doesn't do anything
The instructions are a bit vague but I feel I have the unit connected correctly, the remotes trigger the control unit because I can hear it clicking for lock and unlock and the hazzard lights flash :?
Anyone have any ideas or have any experience with this kit it would be appreciated
Below is the legend off the pack;
Red................... 12V Constant
Black.................. Ground
White................. Lock N/C
Green................. Lock Common
Blue................... Unlock Common
Brown................. Unlock N/C
Purple................. Lock/Unlock N/O
Black/Red............ Parker/Flasher (+)
And this is how I have it hooked up;
Red................... +12Volt Battery
Black................. Ground
White................ Not Connected
Green................ Lock wire on dash door lock switch
Blue.................. Unlock wire on dash door lock switch
Brown................ Not Connected
Purple................ Not Connected
Black/Red........... Hazzard lights
Thanks,
Tony

Re: remote central locking
Part number off 90scool yahoo site is PZQ71-60050 - but thats from 2007 and it indicates stocks were limited at the time. Kit comes with module, two remotes, self tapping screws, bracket and cable ties. $150 for the kit - again 2007 price. I'll be interested to see if the kit is still available.

Re: remote central locking
i have installed a lot of car alarm security system such as Mongoose, True Guard, Safe Guard, etc.
The process is quite the same with those you are talking about.

Re: remote central locking
I'm waiting for Surf5l to get back with the factory part number. If that is a more cost effective option I think I might go down that path.
The reason your flip key doesn't work is that the original keys are chipped for the immobiliser.

I'm thinking of adding remote central locking to my 90 series (which already has cental locking via switch on dashboard) and would like to get a brand that others have tried and works.
Thank you

this is the one i just installed. very easy. took 15 minutes. The reason i got this one is the flip key,
It is a Hilux key but the locksmith said its the same.
I got my keys cut before i installed it $70 (BTW there are 2 screws on the knuckle of the key to get the key out, as it doesn't sit in the machine whilst still in the unit)
and they work in the doors and ignition, but the car wont kick over, original key does. still looks good and works well...
Still very happy with it, and it honestly is the easiest install you will ever do. i was hesitant, let me know if you have any questions.

Re: remote central locking
Really easy to install...
basicly just find a 12v and an earth, conect the wires as per the diagram in the box.
then i just hooked a wire to the lock and unlock button on the dash.
was installed in less then 15 minutes.
