1997 prado air con fault

hi all

i have abit of a problem with my a/c it will only work when i have the fan on high, there are 4 settings but the fan doesn't activate untill i get it on high. has anyone had this problem before or anyone have an idea where i should start to have a look before i go pulling the dash out.

Hi crykies,
I don't have my Haynes manual with me ATM, but it sounds almost certainly like the fan speed adjustment resistor is dead.

A genuine Toyota replacement hopefully won't cost much, but is an easy install.
The resistor hides behind the glove box.

Got the haynes here:

1. Working in the passenger compartment, remove the screw and bolt retaining the glove compartment and withdraw the compartment from the dashboard.

2. Disconnect the resistor wiring connector.

3. Remove the retaining screws and withdraw the resistor.

Hello i am a newbie on this site,and have a RHS 1997 Prado TX,My spedometer has stopped working,my compass is frozen,since a week ago the driver door central locking door open switch opens the doors but it does not lock the doors,the key operation opens and locks the doors and temperature reads -E,has anyone experienced this problem.Please help
Does any one have a wiring diagram for this vehicle ?

Electrical problem for 1997 Prado

I have another problem with mine. The switch to turn the air con on/off is faulty (poor contact maybe) and you have to hold it in and wriggle it around to get it to work. Are these an easy fix (can I repair or replace the switch)?
