  • Horn not working

    Need some help please.

Over Christmas travelled out west over some fairly rutted roads and since then the horn on the car is not working.

I have checked fuses and all is fine, hazard lights still work as well.

When you push on the horn you can hear the click under the dash but no noise out the front of the car!!!

Any ideas on what may be the issue??? As Murphy's Law would have it twice in two days now when I really, really needed the horn to warn stupid drivers who do not check their blind spot I been left to hit the picks to avoid a collision.

    Thanks in advance...

    Re: Horn not working

    Hi Chris,
The horn circuit is pretty simple from memory, if the fuse is okay there is only so many other possibilities.

Have you taken the cover off the steering wheel to check the condition of the contacts? There should be three sets of contacts.

And have you checked the condition of the horns (there are two) under the bonnet?

    Cheers,
    Declan.

      Re: Horn not working

Check the wiring to the actual horns themselves, I remember when I installed my stebel (and hence removed the old horns) the wiring to them was a bit flimsy. The two horns are mounted in front of the radiator. Get someone to hit the horn while you check the wires with a multimeter. If that's not working, might be the switch itself in the steering wheel.

Either way, sounds like your car wants you to upgrade to a stebel
