Start up smoke/shudder

Hi, My 2002 prado has just started blowing black smoke and gets an engine shudder when starting. This only occurs when starting. After being on for about 30 seconds the smoke stops and the engine shake goes away.


The old girl has only just clicked over 165,000km. Any one got any idea as to a possible cause or cure.
Doe's any one know where I can get a new or exchange for (not sure of the correct name) the rack and pinion for the steering as mine has started to leak power steering fluid.

Fuel injector issue I think mate.

Head to a good injector place and have them changed out or removed and chemically cleaned. I think there is a diesel care place in Tammworth, might be worth a look in the yellow pages.

I suspect a failed glowplug (or maybe a second one)....You may not have notice one failed in warmer weather, but a second will make the car hard to start especially as the air temperature is dropping....
