  • Beaudesert exhaust system

    Hi Guys

First post here but have been lurking for a while. Following Wizards lead, I had my 2.75inch mandrel bent beaudesert exhaust fitted to my 02 model TD today.

Fantastic result. Does everything it promised. Rig has no perceivable turbo lag at all now and pulls cleanly from a little bit above idle.

Thanks for the heads up Wizard, very impressed with the improvement.

    Cheers

Yep the system includes the dump pipe then 2.75 inch mandrel bent aluminised steel all the way through with 1 free flowing muffler ( instead of the 2 mufflers on the standard system).

      The complete system costs $930.

Glad to hear you are just as impressed with the results.

Pleasure to assist other Prado owners. I should hit up Beaudesert Exhausts for a spotter's fee.

I reckon the d-tronic/exhaust upgrade works wonders on the old 1kz-te.

I put my foot down tonight coming home from work to negotiate some traffic in 3rd gear. It just took off!

Wizard, have you played with the induction side of things on your rig?

I have a Safari snorkel and K & N Filter. I also have a Finer Filter but keep that for the real dusty off road stuff and as a back up when I clean the K&N.

The problem with the 95 series is the air filter is on the opposite side to the turbo. Therefore the air has further to travel so any induction improvements would be nominal. But everything counts.

I think a snorkel is next on the list

There are pictures of a modification on one of the Prado Yahoo lists which involved getting rid of the "S-Bend" in the air intake pipe work and drilling a new hole in the guard so the pipe can run more direct to the snorkel. I imagine it makes the airflow quite a bit more direct. Pity it still has to pass across the top of a hot engine block

                Mark and Wizard,

How much louder is the car inside the cabin with the new exhaust fitted??

                Thanks Ben

                  Hi Ben

There is no noise increase inside the car at all! Very impressive.

If you stand along side or behind the car when it's running you can here slightly more noise. Driving with the window down, you can here the turbo spool up a bit sooner and it is perhaps slightly louder with its whistle but nothing really.

Don't not do it for fear of noise cause there is no change inside the car when driving.

Ben, your rig sounds nice, got any pics?

                  Cheers

                    Ben,

there is a slight drone which is a little louder at idle and you will hear it when you put the boot in, but nothing like those annoying 4 cylinder buzz boxes or other sports exhausts on crap 6 cylinders. Its more of a drone which you might hear a little more than usual.

But the reduction of turbo lag, bottom end pick up and acceleration are worth it, as well as the economy.

I've consistently got between 9 and 10 L/100km since fitting the exhaust.

                      Gday Mark,
Will post a few pics on the weekend after I fit my rhino rack setup to the top. I will post in a new topic in the general 90s section?? Thanks for the feedback on the exhuast system.

                      Cheers Ben

                        Wizard,

Thanks for the feedback on the exhuast system. I will end up getting a system but it just seems to be one bill after another at the moment (and I have to convince the minister of finance that we need a new exhuast system  ).

                        Thanks again Ben

Wizard made a good point about the fuel economy. Mine has also improved since fitting the exhaust. My first 2 tanks (main and sub) look like returning around 1300km's. That is 100km's better than my previous best. Will work out the actual consumption when I fill up this weekend.

                          Cheers

I ended up doing 1200 km's from 135 litres which works out to 11.5 litres per 100. Pretty happy with that.
