Has anyone cleaned their butterfly valve?

I saw a thread, which i now cant find, in the 120 series area i think, that cleaned the butterfly valve and other components using a throttel body cleaner.

has anyone done it on a 95 series? Just wondering how safe it is to do for a DIY?
