I'm back.
Some of you may recall a thread I posted last year and earlier this year regarding a surging problem in third at 1600 rpm around 40 kph after getting the truck back from an engine rebuild, clutch replacement and injector recondition.
Several possible reasons were put up. Including throttle sensors through to excessive free play in the gearbox and diff.
Had the Dtronic replaced with a Roo Systems thinking it was fuel related.
It was also vibrating a lot when labouring and getting intermittent gearbox clatter in neutral.
Well after getting the fuel system checked by MTQ here in Darwin, I was informed of an interesting fact. Seems that when Landcruisers, Prado, etc are fitted with aftermarket clutch kits they can cause these problems.
So I seek advice from a transmission specialist, same explaination, the clutch.
So now it is being pulled out and replaced under warranty.
Tip for young players, if you have to replace your clutch pay the extra and get a genuine kit put in.
