  • Blown head need a new one

    My head blew, poss thru the exhaust port
    i dont want a 2nd hand one but am looking at a brand new one, either a base head so i can swap my parts over or a fully new one ready to drop in
    does any body know of a reputable supplier?
    based in Syd but will get it sent from interstate if tyhe supplier is reputable

      Yeah, same place as mine. How many km's? That will have a bearing on what to do with the valve gear/cam and condition of bottom end. Consensus seems to be AMC for heads, go genuine for headgaskets, you can possibly get the thickness without pulling head if you check the number of punch holes in the gasket on the left rear corner of the head/block join. Do it right, do it once! I'm sure 'Roo will chime in here with whatever I missed? ;-)

        Looking at the AMC heads, all others care quoting 1100-1300 + GST and 6 months warranty, AMS are 1450 + GST with 2 years warranty. the fact that they warrant them for 2 years is a big plus. the prioces are for a fully assembled head, new valves/cam etc just pull the old one off and the new one on
        The rig has 270000 km on it, still going strong apart from the head problem, dropped it off top the mech this morning for a formal diagnosis and will see what he says
