  • MAP filter replacement?

    Hi

Looking at possibly replacing my MAP sensor filter to possibly improve performance in my 1KZ-TE.
    Part is this - http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_200....html?hl=23265

Question is, is it safe to just bypass the filter temporarily to see what difference it might make?

I've read reports on this little sucker dropping performance by 71% measured on a dyno.
Its rather expensive so I'd like to do a bypass test before I outlay the bucks.
Its not on the Toyota scheduled service items list.

    Thanks John

Thats what I would have expected but wanted to be sure
Figured a bypass would be a cheap check.

Merry Christmas mate and thanks for all your assistance over the year.

    Cheers

Well I don't know about the economy bit. You still get a decent pension over there (won't be one here for much longer), can walk into a hospital and obtain an emergency bed when needed.
The economy is doing well enough to pay for what you can't have here. Just needs more jobs and sunshine.

        I feel retirement coming on
So long as the exchange rate remain 30% in favour of Oz I'll be happy...

I bypassed the filter and drove to/from work. Seems to have more low down pickup around 1000rpm and possibly a bit more responsive to the throttle but that might be wishful thinking.
Does this sound like what a blocked filter might do?

Appears to have quite a bit of oil in it so might just change it anyway.
