Prado TX 3.0 Turbo Diesel

Hi, wondering whether anyone can help, Recently aquired a 96 Toyota Prado TX tirbodiesel 3.0.
Love the motor, loads of room for the kids, problem is I've revently spoke to some and they said I wasn't getting enough economey out of the car,
On average I will get 300miles top of the tanks.

Is this correct>>

Please post your location in your profile and also how many litres (gallons?) the tanks are you are describing, this will help any prospective answers.

And how big is the tank in your car as it is not an Aust model. (AU models have 182 litre tanks)
