  • exhaust what one

hi all i have spent days and hours of reading, talking, getting quotes..i have a turbo 95 series now i have been told that i cant fit a
3'' exhaust system to the car as i will kill it..
2.5''-2.3/4'' exhaust system seems to be the most popular for my car but have been told those sizes are for the petrol model.
Even then i got told i have to put in a k&n filter to help the car to cope with the bigger exhaust system..
no place i have talked to has said any thing about the dump pipe or changing it...
i see a few of you have a 3'' system on your car,now is that just the exhaust? or have u changed the size of the dump pipe?
Have any of you had any problems ? and are u running a chip as well?
some it up i want to run a chip n exhaust system to get better power, fuel and what not from my car for black top driving around town/highway and towing around town/highway also for off road driving n the chance of towing off road...i have picked up a snorkel n k&n filter but not fitted yet.. i'm confused on what i exhaust system and brand i should get...

With diesels, the bigger the exhaust the better and that includes the dump pipe along with Hi flow mufflers. Otherwise it's like having a large water hose with a kink in it. Petrol systems require back pressure hence the exhaust has to be tuned to the motor per say otherwise you could loose horse power and or increase fuel consumption.

I did run a chip and now I don't. Do the exhaust mod first and see how you go. I have a manta exhaust and are very happy with it. The exhaust is mandrel bent which one would think is the norm these days and the pipe is thicker than normal. Just look at what offers the best warranty and consider how long you are planning on having your vehicle as to whether stainless is the way to go.

        Hi there.

I have a 2.5inch Mandrel dump on mine into a Straight Through 3inch Mandrel bent system with a small straight through muffler in the middle. It is still quiet but has a great Turbo whistle out the back.
Has been on there for approx 18 months so far & has been great.
I don't think you will get a 3inch dump in there, as there is not enough room around the studs to fit the pipe.
I have not chipped mine yet, but have noticed it pulls & revs more freely, especially when towing a caravan etc.
Instead of falling flat on its face at 3000rpm it will now rev more freely to 4000rpm, but is well and truly done by then.

With the Exhaust & a decent chip, you should see power go from 96kw to around 120kw-121kw

        Regards, Jason.

thanks for input...i have been looking at a scotts rods system for awhile now and i like there price and a few other brands but they cost $$ more. as some say you get what u pay for but i dont no if that works for exhust systems as they are built the same to help the car breath better...

            I had a Taipan 3" system installed
            http://www.taipanxp.com.au/90Series-1kztePrado.html

and a DP Chip and have not looked back.

I was surprised at how the exhaust system tucked in really tight to the body and does not hang down . I think better than the stock one did.

Not only does it make the car more responsive and noticeably more power, it sounds great!!
