  • Could I be using the wrong oil?

Only recently got my Prado and joined PP.

My Prado is a '01 TD with 129,000 k's on the clock.

The weekend after I bought it, I changed the oil, oil filter and air filter.

The oil I purchased was Penrite HPR Diesel 20W-60. It has the following noted on the bottle - "US Standards API CH-4/SJ, European Standards
    ACEA A3/B3".

I have now looked closely at the Prado manual and it says to use API
CF-4 or CF (or API CE or CD). The highest viscosity noted on the
    accompanying graph is 20W-50.

I got the heavier oil at the time because the engine has over 100,000k and Qld summers get hot and this vehicle gets its fair share of around town use.

So should I change the oil and oil filter again or is it ok?

    Thanks for your help guys!
    Adventure before dementia.

Another good oil specifically made for Japanese diesel engines is Castrol J-Max. I used it for years with my old Surf 2.4. I found it to be the best especially with an older engine.
