Has anybody got any experiances with mods on a prado td?

Thinking of trying something soon along the lines of a chip or computer, or mabye even LPG injection. Not shoure realy were to start looking, what have other done?

I have had a Dtrionic chip installed about 2 weeks ago. I noticed an increase in power immediately. It also seemed to change gears smoother (auto Diesel TD). During last weekend we went away, towing a camper trailer. We aslo did some sand diving and in both cases I noticed increased power. So far I have not been able to do a fuel consumption comaprison as the amount of towing and sand driving certainly chewed up the juice. I got about 6.5K/Ltr whereas normally I get about 7.5K/Ltr

The biggest problem with the 90 series TD for performance is exhaust back pressure (due to dump pipe housing ) and the ECU programing.

Fit a diesel tuning module and a performance exhaust (with dump pipe). This will be cheaper than LPG, retain your fuel range, and provide more power.

I'm happy with the bits provided to me by ENG-TEK. After that there are a couple of induction mods that you might consider (if you want more power).

Had a Dtronic fitted when they first came out for the 95 Series No its not a 90 series!

Power was much better with improved bottom end pick up and reduced turbo lag.

Had a mandrel bend exhaust with 3" dump pipe and free flow straight through muffler fitted Friday. AWESOME!

No turbo lag.
Accelerates and revs out a lot better when you need to.
Bottom end torque even better, change up a lot earlier as turbo is now spinning at lower revs.
Less dramatic engine braking allowing for smoother down shifts.

Economy seems better as long as you don't use your right foot more because you can.

Yet to try it towing to van..I'll get back to you

Thanks for the replys guys, good to see some 90series action on pradopoint again.
A Dtronics chip is certinly moving up the list of bits to get, might try for one before my Tassie trip in October, see what the minister of finnance thinks.
