  • Hiclones

Hi, new to this site and just picked up a 2000 3.4 gxl. So far I couldn't be happier. whilst in the process of adding some goodies to the truck, I'm thinking about fitting Hiclones and was wondering if anyone had opinions on them, good or bad?

    Cheers and beers,

    mabo.

This is one of those topics that crops up everywhere - all the time. My argument is that if they were as good as the manufacturer claims, they'd be fitted in the factory. Anything in the airflow is going to reduce the flow rate (Flow rate [Q] = cross sectional area [A] x velocity [v]). Creating turbulent airflow can also slow the velocity: less speed of air entering = less air to burn.

But hey, that's engineer speak. They have a 30 day money back guarantee, so give it a go

Was told by an oficial hiclone retailer up here, that they dont do a great deal, he said "if you tell people they will get more power, they just think it works". Affects are so small there not noticable.

These things work much better on carby engines and LPG mixer based engines.

I could not measure any difference on eitehr of my cars, but they buggered around with it for a few months, then said the warranty has expired. Its currently in a box somewhere cause I changed the induction system (bigger) & it wont fit anymore.

The local bloke here fitted two to his previous 4x4 (other brand) TD. has not bothered with the current (16 months old) car). that must tell you something when he gets then wholesale pricing.

Tried them years ago and found they increased the fuel consuption.
Took it back they kept offering to change the placement or that I might need to fit 2.
            Just got my money back.
Found out later it was a ploy so that the trial period would expire.

Talking to Brisbane Tuning and Turbo, seems the Hiclones cause too much stress on some of the turbo components and shouldn't be fitted to turbo diesels.

I'm taking mine out this weekend.
