I broke this trying to get my oil filter free. It’s a little nipple on what appears to be a solenoid at the 3oclock or so position when looking at the oil filter. Can’t find it in parts catalogue and supposed to go off-roading tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what it is please?

It is part of your EGR setup (see pic below). If you arent in a country that regularly tests your car for emissions, I would delete the EGR asap as they're really bad for Diesel engines. You'll probably find your intake manifold is quite choked up too (reducing your engine power and possibly running a bit warmer) due to the amount of sticky soot the EGR sends beck into your engine. Bugger of a job but when you get time, worth removing the intake manifold and giving it a good clean post-EGR removal. Hope this helps! All the best

Hello again
this is the line I broke, I have seen kind of conflicting information on the web as to the purpose of this particular hose. Does anyone know what it provides vacuum for and if I can just block it off? Parts manual seems to indicate it runs from the vacuum pump along the block and then to the egr so it looks like I can cap it but I’m concerned about a boost leak I’ve been having since I broke this. Could be unrelated1 PhotoLast edited by Philip_g; 08-06-2023, 06:02 AM.
