Having trouble with the main fuel guage in my 98 V6 petrol - when the tank is full, it's lucky to read half on the guage. Then quickly drops to near empty and stays there! (There is no fuel leak and the vehicle runs fine on the main tank) Could this be the main fuel sender unit and if so - where is it located in the main fuel tank? Is tank removal required, or can you get your had up there? {This vehicle has done some beach work and I'm thinking there could be some resistence/corrosion, on the connection between the sender?

Re: VJ95 Main fuel guage
Hi Matt,
I used to have that problem with my sub tank gauge. It would only read half way on a full tank. I think it was just the needle had slipped on its little shaft as running the tank to empty (i.e. engine stuttering till I flicked the fuel change over switch) seemed to realign the needle.
It now reads full when the tank is full.
I'd try that first. Its a much cheaper fix that dropping the tank to replace the fuel sender.
Cheers,
