  • coil pack retaining bolt

On the weekend I did a service on the Prado on the right bank on top of each plug lead is a coil pack which is secured by a 10 mm bolt.On removing the rear bolt I noticed it was a little tight, but did not think much of it until I went to replace the bolt and relised the thread was not bighting.I know the mechanic that serviced it for me last time did it as a favour so I wont get stuck into him or his apprentice.
I have now three possible options
    1 - new rocker cover
2 - drill slightly deeper and tap and place longer bolt
    3 - heli coil
question is on option 2 or 3 does any one know if I have enough meat in the alloy to get away with drilling deeper or wider ?

You should be able to drill wider not deeper, but first see if you can retap the existing thread.
