    Hi VL400,
If you have a schematic of the PCB, I can build one with trough hole components on a blank PCB. That would save on P&H and fiddly SMT component soldering/supply.

If you're not keen on giving out the schematic and would rather supply the PCBs, I'm cool with it and am happy to work with that.

The only issue you will have is the USB comms IC is available in SMD only so would need to change that bit to something else. PM me your email address and will send you a copy of the schematic.

Keep up the good work VL400! Very interested to see what you can achieve! I'm maxed out just trying to decipher the acronyms!
        Cheers, Ben.

As we all know the 90 series can have issues with the MAF sensor by getting dusty, can you make it so that the ECU always thinks the MAF is spotlessly clean.

In the case of a dirty hot wire MAF, dust would act like an insulator so, the ecu would in theory under estimate the airflow and cause the engine to run lean no?

I'm not sure if or how dust affects the earlier model mechanical MAF's.

Correct, and with the lean out of fuel comes the extra heat, I found this out when mine was dirty, as I had my window open and could feel the extra heat rise up, when I cleaned it the same day, that extra heat was gone, so if there was a way to trick the MAF into thinking is was always clean would be great.

How much the MAF output has to be adjusted depends on how dirty the MAF is. AFAIK the MAF does not report how dirty it is so the MCU would have nothing to go off.

VL400's initial issue and fix is for the fuel air mix being rich because of the MAF over estimating the airflow.

Yeah it wont be able to compensate for it being dirty as williade said the ECU (or my MAF adjuster) has no way of being able to monitor that. Both my mates car and mine showed no change in the air/fuel mix after the MAF was cleaned so I dont know for sure if it goes rich or lean - but with dirt being an insulator would have thought it would show less airflow and a leaner air fuel ratio. It would likely also change the way the temp sensor behaves too.

Here is a screen shot of the first time I started to adjust the MAF. Its an example of a -5% change of the MAF voltage - MAF volts going in to the adjuster is 2.832v and the modified output that goes to the ECU is 2.696v. So at a steady speed (98KPH) while on cruise and on a flat road I adjusted in real-time the current load point for instant change to -5% and some better economy....

And this is a picture of the program used for tuning and data logging. A black circle hovers over the tuning map showing the exact part that is being used at that instant, makes it a breeze to adjust in real-time, and at the bottom the dash shows you exactly whats going on...

Saving on average about 1.5L/100km around town

Playing around with some new functions such as lean cruise mode now.

1.5L benefit around town is great. I can't wait to see the final product after all the testing.

Hi Vl400 is there any update on this? Very keen and also capable of fitting and testing with strong ecu knowledge. We are at our wits end with economy, the next step is to check its economy going over a cliff face!!! Am about to have NB o2 sensor fitted to help me monitor things currently
