  • Genuine .v. Non Genuine MAF Sensors

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with non genuine MAF sensors for 2000 Prado 3.4l 5VZ.
On Ebay prices vary from $60 + $40 freight from the states, to $185 genuine Denso delivered from OZ, to $310 from Toyota.

Looking to replace mine and interested in any feedback anyone has to offer.

    cheers

    Andy

I ordered on last year from E-bay. From England (I live in Europe) auto-sensors.
It looks just like the genuine one, and works fine. The price is 1/4 of the toyota one. The cars runs much better now.

      Hi Andy,
I looked at the MAF sensors on ebay located in the UK. They were the genuine part number and from memory were less than half price of Toyota Aus.
I ended up cleaning my hotwire with 'CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner'. The can cost about $25 from Repco. The first time i cleaned the sensor, it took quite a bit of spraying and the next time it cleaned up easily. So maybe try cleaning it before going to the expense of a new MAF.

      Cheers
      John

G'day mate. I got one from the states off eBay cos I reckoned it was cheap enough to give it a go. I couldn't get a definitive answer as to whether my original one was ok or on it's way out so I got a new one from TRE performance ( I think that's what they're called). It arrived at my door within 5 days and is identical to the original part. Works fine. I've had it in for about 12 months in my 5vzfe.
        Cheers, Ben.

          Hey Ben,
Did you notice any difference after putting in the replacement?

          Cheers,
          John

Hey John. I don't remember noticing any real improvement with the new MAF, I think the original was probably fine after all. I left the new one in and have the original in the glovebox as a spare.
              Cheers, Ben.
