  • Headers on 98 2.7L Prado?

    Hi all,

I have a 1998 2.7L (3RZ) Prado and am thinking of installing headers on it. Has anyone with the same year and engine Prado put headers on theirs? If so, are there noticeable gains and would you deem it a worthwile addition?

The only ones I've found so far are the Advance Exhaust Headers from bestmufflers.com. Does anyone have any experience with these?

    Thanks much.

    Hello mate!

I have a 2.7 RZJ90 Prado with Pace Setter Headers. They are good and give me some low end torque.

If I were buy a new header, I would buy these:

    http://www.northwestoffroad.com/parts/triheaders.php

Something interesting to read about headers for 3RZ engines:

    Cheers

MDST, thanks very much. I had heard about the LCE ones but was unsure if there would be any fitting issues as they are for the Tacomas and 4Runners, I know they are the same engines as our RZJ90s but thought there may be some lay out/space differences and issues. I assume that you didn't have any fitting issues with your Pace Setter ones?

Why would you chose the LCE or North West ones over the Pace Setter ones if you were to buy again?

      Thanks again.

        Hi ContactFront,
If you update your profile with your location, forum members near you may be able to help.

For example jamesh is a forum who I have met with an RZJ95R with extractors fitted. If you are in the Sydney area he may be able to recommend his supplier when you send him a private message.

The fitting is pretty straight forward. All I had to do was seal an inlet oxygen sensor at the top of the header because our Prados (2.7) brings one oxygen sensor in the exhaust line.

This is the Pace Setter that I have:

          http://www.pacesetterparts.com/1996-...ated-p-38.html

Here in my country there are some who have mounted the LC header and perfect.

The Pace Setter is a good header, but the North West ( specially North West ) or LC is denoted by better construction.

Read a little of this and see the differences between the headers: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/4Runne...ws/lce_header/

Williade's advice is a good idea!!

          Cheers

Thanks again, MDST. Good info, I'll have a closer look at those headers now that I know they can be fitted to our Prados.

BTW, I'm in Jamaica so I'm closer to you in Venezuela than most of the guys from Oz on here!

I've got pace maker headers on mine coupled with 2 1/4 " system
They help with low down torque and it is noticably more responsive when you put the foot down, haven't noticed any difference in economy

              Cheers Rob

Hi guys, sorry to hijack the thread, but i was wonderin if anyone knows whether extractors that suit the hilux 3rz would suit (or be easily modified to suit) a 3rz prado? the price difference is ridiculous! i can get a set of hilux extractors for $200 brand new, or i can pay $400 for a set for the prado...

so yeah, just wondering if anyone has any ideas or has tried this themselves?

                any help appreciated!

                thanks
                Riggy
