  • Exhaust Squealing

    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or if anyone knows why, but my Prado has developed a squeal out of / or around the exhaust area. It is a 3RZ FE and it only squeals above 3400 rpm till the redline and only when I accelerate hard.

    Cheers Matt

Answer: Could possibly be a collapst muffler! If this was the case you would also notice a loss of power/engine running hotter than normal and heavier fuel consumption.

"Also!" Sometimes if you put one of those fancy chrome sleeves on the end of the tail pipe it can cause a squealing noise?

If none of the above then you will have to investigate further as a vacuum leak and a slipping belt also squeal when under load!

    Cheers

I seem to recall we had a rubber clip that came free from the muffler and this caused a funny squeaking noise.
