    Hi Tracker,

With my current setup, I does not require to event to jack up the car.
I just remove the oil at bottom of engine and change my oil filter from the front hoot.

Actually, after 27 different cars/4WD's I find the Prado's to be one of the fiddliest setups I've had, though I didn't know about that flap on the passenger side. Have to check that out. The absolute easiest I've had is a toss-up between the 307 Chev/SWB 'Cruiser (hanging vertically at the back of the block) & virtually any Ford 6 I've had. Believe it or not, the Mini Clubman is pretty easy to do too, plus every time you change the engine oil on a Mini, you're also doing a diff & gearbox oil-change.

All this sounds a bit difficult.
Are you talking the petrol or diesel?

In the diesel I just use the Toyota oil filter socket on the end of a socket ratchet and undo it.
Sometimes I remove the air filter box so I can poke a wire down the oil filter drain hole but normally I just in and unscrew the filter.

Pulling bash plates and wheel arches... sounds like you don't have the 1KZ

            Nope I have 5VZ-FE (petrol V6 3.4)

            Thanks for all the feedback

Reckon I'll try the wheel arch option next time around with a socket style filter wrench if needed.

Try the socket filter wrench for fit first.
I bought the correct Toyota part for my Toyota (diesel) filter and its a pretty sloppy fit. The depth of the socket isn't that great and its easy to have it slip off the filter whilst trying to undo the filter.
              Still easier than other methods...

Picked one up on ebay (ViViv Auto Tools - two way oil filter wrench)

Not sure if it'll fit yet but it looks about right ;-)

Theres no need to take bash plates or anything off you dont need to even jack car up. Just use old style oil filter wrench hop underneith and stick hand up chuck the wrench on and loosen. After its loose just use hand to spin it off. This is the 3.4 petrol engine im talking about 10 seconds max.

I've been doing mine from underneath but that certainly looks a lot easier. I checked mine & it's the same, just that rubber flap.

Did mine today. Took it off from underneath & spun the new one on from the side as above. Took all of 5 minutes total.
