Prado 95 3400 petrol High engine revs when starting

Anyone got any idea why my Prado has started revving at 2000 rpm when starting even when warm. This has only started since the weather has got a little cooler here in WA. How is the cold start fast idle controlled . The vehicle is auto , everything else is good and car runs well when driving.

I'd suggest your throttle position sensor and idle sensor could do with a clean with some MAF sensor cleaner. Grab yourself a workshop manual - you'll find it invaluable.

It is the Idle control sensor, it is located in the throttle body, remove the throttle body and take out the sensor, clean the sensor with MAF cleaner, and then clean the throttle body with carby cleaner, when it is all dry, put it all back together. While your at it, you may as well clean the MAF sensor as well.
