  • Fuel Tanks

    Hey All

Im after so info. Does anyone know if the fuel tanks from a V6 model (Both Main & Aux) will fit to a 4 cyl model. I have been told that the body's are the same so I shouldnt have any problems fitting them.

I was just wondering if anyone esle has done this or has look into doing this.

    Thanks

    Kile

Yes can you fit the V6 tanks in a 2.7 ltr Prado? I want to know before I buy.

      Sub tank

      Hi folks,

Just thought I'd share some of my experiences with this...

I've got a 1996 Prado RV (so 4cyl). I had it converted to gas, then bought a 2nd hand sub-tank (which I believe only came with V6 models). You have to replace the filler neck (because the stock RV 4cyl only has a tube going to the rear tank - now you need the filler neck to also go to the sub-tank.

All of this simply bolts on - all the nuts and holes are there on the frame. One word of caution:

Having done this, mine runs rough on petrol. I'm not sure why yet - the gas place said its possible the subtank (designed for the V6 engine) has too low fuel pressure for the 4cyl engine. I havent connected the fuel hoses up as I'd like (currently I run a 2m rubber hose to the back of the car where the old tank's fuel line is - its possible that the extra distance is too much for the sub-tank pump!).

So yes, mounting is easy, but double check compatibility! I'll update if I find out that theyre incompatible.

      Cheers!
